Setting Up for the Unforgettable Holiday Event
More and more people today seem to be using the holiday as a time to showcase their abilities to decorate and to out do everyone else that they know. They want everyone that sees the holiday set up to be unable to forget it. People that take the time to fill out the US Immigration forms to get a US Green Card or US Visas are often amazed at how much time, effort and expense a lot of these people put in to decorating their homes for the holidays
This used to be fairly well confined to the period of time from Thanksgiving to New Years which is the traditional period of going crazy. But today folks after a US Green Card or the US Visas fill out their US Immigration forms and often marvel at the time that these folks spend on decorating for other holidays.
Everything from the Super Bowl to Presidents day and Martin Luther King to Valentines Day and Saint Patrick’s Day are now fair game for folks to get crazy and go wild doing what they can to spend money and out do one another in decorating for the events that they have planned. The Fourth of July and Halloween are also great excuses for these folks to go overboard on the decorating.
There is a misconception in the United States that more is always better so people pile on as much as they can, thinking that it will make it harder to forget the way they had set things up. But the sad truth of the matter is that they often become the forgettable place or even worse, the laughing stock of the neighborhood and the butt of the jokes for the year to come.
There is a lot to be said about tasteful sparseness when it comes to decorating for a holiday. A little here and a touch there often go farther towards making it a decoration to remember.
It is true that this is not a rule and in fact there are no rules when it comes to decorating for a holiday. The truth is that if it is something that you want to do and it looks good to you then it is exactly what you need to do for yourself. But remember one thing about an extravagant decoration. The more time it takes you to set it up and get it looking the way that you want it, the longer it is going to take you to undo it, pack it up and store it. You also need a lot of room to store all the many things that you use when decorating because they all seem to be so large.
Your own needs and desires will be your best guide but I often find that the things that stick with me are the simple elegant ones. Like a simple Evergreen tree lit by only white lights and little else. It looks classy and makes a statement to me. Your ideas might be different and the nice thing is, there is no wrong way to do it.
